The Red Lake DNR Wetlands Office is a branch of the Water Resources Program that researches, maintains, and protects over 250,000 acres of wetlands on Tribal lands. Our mission is to preserve and protect the wetland resources of the Red Lake Reservation for the benefit of all current and future members of the Red Lake Band. The program began in 2009 providing wetland monitoring, education, and consultation. The office works with the Red Lake Planning Department, Roads program, and Red Lake Builders to provide information that will prevent wetland degradation. The Wetlands Office collaborates with other programs in the RL DNR such as Wildlife, Forestry, and other Water Resources offices to make appropriate management recommendations that will be beneficial to all natural resources on the Reservation.
